Strike Two
When I got home from the fire department drill last night the garage door for the Del Sol was open, which I thought was kind of odd. When I got into the house, Lori told me why. She had hit … Continue reading →

I finally had to resort to caging my little escalonia starts because the deer were determined to make a bonsai garden out of them. I think they realized that some day these shrubs were going to grow up to become … Continue reading →
After going down Friday night to pick her up out of the hospital it was too late to drive back to Ferndale. We went back this morning and on the way stopped so Heidi could take some photos of the … Continue reading →
Going out to the truck this morning I came across a doe and her two Bambies munching away in our yard (amazingly they were eating weeds!). I startled them and mommy deerest took off, crossing the driveway and lept over … Continue reading →
Lori loves seeing the fawns every year, and a few days ago she was wondering why she hadn’t seen any. We’ve been seeing a lot of bucks around lately, but no babies. So of course the day that Lori leaves … Continue reading →
Here is why it didn’t surprise me to the mountain lion tracks yesterday. Today there were 14-15 rose destroyers in the Bugenig’s field which is the largest herd I’ve seen over there. Definitely time to cull the herd.

Here we have totally appropriate deer behavior, munching on the abundant supply of willow trees that line the creek. This morning both Galen and Ricky were pretty interested in keeping the deer out of our yard, and surprisingly, the deer … Continue reading →
I really don’t understand our cats. They are afraid of Sophie the bunny who is 1/6 their weight, while Sophie is totally fearless of the cats. Then on the other hand, Galen and Ricky are both very curious about the … Continue reading →
Here’s something that Linda didn’t get to see. We’ve had baby dear and momma dear pictures this last week, so to be fair, here’s the male side of the family. We don’t see bucks very often, and they aren’t the … Continue reading →
The evening of the fourth ended up being wet, so I didn’t take the camera out to record our fireworks. Once I figured out how to light them in the rain we had fun. (I finally resorted to using a … Continue reading →
Deer are now an everyday occurence in our yard. But this guy is definitely the smallest one we’ve seen. I’m beginning to think I should just give up on gardening and take up raising deer as a hobby.”
