Old Van Duzen Bridge
Lori and I celebrated Presidents Day by going for a drive through the backcountry to Kneeland. I wasn’t really sure what’s in Kneeland, but when I saw the road that goes to it on our trip to Eleanor’s house in Bridgeville, I was intrigued. Although we took the truck, it turns out to be a perfect road for the KLR, and I’m sure I’ll try it again soon when the weather clears up. The bridge in the picture is the old Van Duzen bridge on Highway 36, shortly before you get to Bridgeville. I suppose Dad would have traveled over this bridge on his way to the ranch, but now there is a newer bridge next to it that actually carries the traffic. Fortunately they left this scenic bridge standing. We really enjoyed our scenic drive, and I stopped at quite a few places to take pictures along Highway 36. Usually I’m too busy enjoying the road on the bike to stop and take pictures, so it was nice to stop and share the sights with Lori. After awhile though it started raining so I had to put the camera away. But I will be sharing a few more pictures from the drive later this week.”
