Hobart Brown
November 7 Ferndale lost one of its most important and famous citizens, Hobart Brown. Known worldwide as the founder of the Kinetic Sculpture Race, he was an ecentric individual, in a good way. Tonight the town celebrated his life with a memorial service at the community hall, followed by a candlelight walk down Main Street to his home and gallery. That was followed by three blasts from a canon, which made me wish I had brought a tripod. The flash and smoke looked great in the photo but trying to hold a long exposure when a canon goes off a few feet from you is a bit difficult. After the cannon shots the whole group made their way back to the community hall, lead by a marching band.
