DIY and don’t RTFM
The biggest chore I had for today was redoing some of the electrical in my office at home. Like the garage, I’m finding that the electrical in the house must have been done by an amateur, with no knowledge of codes or even basic principles of electricity. For example, in the office one wall plug was a GFI circuit. Yet when I pulled it out of the wall to replace the rusting box, I found that it wasn’t even grounded. Not sure why there was a GFI in that room anyways, but it certainly wasn’t doing any good.
I spent most of the day slithering on my belly in the muddy crawlspace running new wire for the two outlets that my computers will be plugged into. I’m going to put them on a separate dedicated circuit just to be safe. I also relocated the light fixture to the correct spot on the ceiling. I was hoping to also do some other electrical work that needs to be done such as fixing the fan circuit in the bathroom, but I ran out of energy. My energy that is.
