Back to our trip last Sunday. The reason I took Lori out to Sinkyone was because we had just watched an episode of Nature about Yellowstone and she really loved seeing the elk. I had just read about Sinkyone and knew that they had elk there and it was the right time of year to see them with their impressive racks. So I lured her into going 4 wheeling with me with the promise of seeing elk. Fortunately, the elk kept their end of the bargain. This guy wasn’t even the dominant bull, but he was the prettiest and most cooperative. We hiked down to where the ranger had spotted the elk earlier that day and saw them, and then the herd headed back in the direction that we just came from. That put the herd between us and our truck, so it was a careful walk back, picking our way between these majestic grazers.
