The five mile drive from 101 to Ferndale is a pretty scenic drive, but several of the local residents also go out of their way to make sure you’re amused as well. One of them is Henry Del Biaggio, who for the last several months has been entertaining motorists with a dummy in his yard. It started out as just a gentleman waiving from a lawn chair, but in wave friendly Ferndale, that often meant that the clueless would wave back. Since the Del Biaggio property spends the winter as a flood plain, that meant that for several months their dummy could be seen in various fishing poses. As the water receeded, the dummy decided to take a ride around the yard on his motorbike. Which he promptly crashed. I wanted to get a picture of that scene but when I went out to take it, the lawn was being watered and the dummy had disappeared, presumbly getting mended at the doctors. Today he was back in his familiar lawn chair, sporting a cast, and waving “I’m OK” to the passing motorists.
