Lori and I received this reel to reel tape player as a wedding gift almost 25 years ago. By some accounts, that would almost make it an antique. I guess we really are getting old. I heard that people were collecting these so I did a bit of snooping on Ebay and found them going for around $150 most of the time, but one sold recently in England for over $600. Why that one was so special I don’t know, but if they’re worth that much more over there, I should have gotten on a plane and delivered it, as that would have paid for the airfare and then some. Our’s ended up selling for about $136. Which isn’t bad, considering it was $300 new back in 1981. Why anybody would really want one of these I don’t know, as they are really archaic compared to the sound and convenience of CDs.
