Night Herons
Someone recently asked me if I had any pictures of the night herons that roost in the tree by the Gumdrop House. She really wanted pictures of them as they started flying off. Well, they don’t call them night herons for nothing. I decided to investigate the photo potential for this event, but true to name, it’s pretty dark when they finally wake up and fly off. During the day they’re not too exciting as they sleep 150ft up in this tree. At least the bats at Carlsbad understand the PR value of leaving the cave right at twilight.
