I finally got my schedule to coincide with the sun’s. The magazine “Where to Retire”, is doing a story on Ferndale and they are featuring Ken Torbert and his wife Sharon, so I got commisioned to take their portrait for the article. The magazine provided some pretty specific guidelines for the photos, but rule number one was they wanted a clear day. Which meant it rained for the next week. The first clear day, I was in my Fire Academy class. The following day was spectacular, but that was the day of the race so with that many people in town it was impossible to do the shoot. We planned a shoot for 3:00 on Monday, the fog rolled in at 2:30. We rescheduled for Tuesday morning, but the fog never burned off. Finally, Wednesday the weather cooperated and we completed the shoot. Ken of course is the retired owner of the Gingerbread Mansion, and in large part was responsible for our move to Ferndale.
