Here’s what the new fireplace looks like. It will eventually be surrounded by tile and a mantel, but we wanted to get this step done before we started wallpapering. I will probably make the mantel unless I find an antique one that I really like that happens to fit. If I have to make it then it will have to wait until our garage is done, which at the rate we’re preceding through the permit process, may be some time near the end of this decade.
