Today FVFD had their annual Fireman’s Games, and since I was recently promoted to Captain of Company 1, that meant another dunking. I’ll never get used to how cold that water is. It really didn’t help that today was one of the coldest days that we’ve held the games. I had to put the camera away after the first two events because I was losing feeling in my fingers from having them exposed to the rain and wind.

Unfortunately, my debut as captain left a lot to be desired. We were pretty short staffed in Company 1 and I had trouble with 2 of the 3 runs of the hose lay, which put us in last place, so we ended up the day cooking hamburgers for the rest of the department.
