Evolution is Good
Finally fell of the fence in deciding what to replace my dead Fuji S1 with. Ordered a Nikon D80 last week and it arrived yesterday. I got a chance to play with it today and the most noticeable thing about it is the size. On the left is my Nikon FM2 which is my 35mm film camera. In the middle is the Kodak 14 megapixel camera, which is my main camera these days. What a porker! On the right is the new Nikon D80, and you can see that it’s about the same size as the FM2. Really to do a fair comparison I should put the motor drive on the FM2, in which case the D80 definitely wins the battle. The D80 will definitely be the camera of choice for my motorcycling and hiking. The expensive and fragile Kodak will now stay in the studio except for portrait sessions or for those landscape shots that I really need extreme wide angle shots.
