A Terabyte
A few new pieces of hardware have been added to the desk. First, I finally broke down and bought a tablet. I got a Wacom Graphire 4 that also includes a cordless mouse. Still getting used to using the pen. It’s very different from using a mouse, mostly because the tablet is mapped directly to the screen, rather than using relative motion as the mouse does. I also added a Dymo Labelwriter 400 to print price labels and print info labels. The studio looks much more professional now. Then since I ran out of USB ports I added a D-Link 7 port USB hub. Finally, I upgraded my hard drives once again, this time to two Maxtor 500 Gig drives. Combined with the 250 Gig drive in the iMac, that gives me 1.25 Terabytes of storage. I remember just a few years ago hearing the term terabyte for the first time, and it was in relation to a supercomputer. In 1984, my first computer had a 360k floppy drive. So how much storage space do I have today on my desk? It works out to 2.7 million 360k floppy disks. Funny, it doesn’t seem that much, and it’s going to have to be added to again shortly. Amazing what a 14 megapixel camera will do to your storage situation.
