This lace wedding dress is part of what would have been a two piece wedding dress. The front buttons up with a long series of fabric covered buttons, but the front of the skirt is very open so it would have been worn with an under layer that was meant to be seen. When Matt saw this dress on Ebay, the seller also had a 1930 Ivory Silk Dress for sale, and it makes a great companion to this dress.
This wedding dress is featured in Matt’s favorite photograph, the one of Katy wearing it on top of the mountain with a stormy sky in the background. Entitled Mountain Peek, a pun on the see-through nature of the lace dress, the photo almost didn’t happen. Being up on a mountain top while a summer storm was approaching didn’t seem like a good idea, but Katy talked Matt into going ahead. He’s glad she persisted, because it ended up being a great photograph.
Since this wedding dress has a long train, it also seemed like the right piece to use for for two horse related photoshoots, first with Natalie and a beautiful Friesian, and then later with Kayla and her horse Lady, on Centerville beach.
