1900 Champagne Silk Corset

Knowlesville
1900 Champagne Silk Corset

Date: c.1900

Modeled by: Heather

Location: Bathroom of our 1914 Bungalow

Price: Not for sale

This corset was purchased at the Vintage Fashion Expo held in San Francisco. One of the fanciest examples of a corset that we’ve seen, with a lace ruffle in the front, and pink flossing over the silk fabric. The silk fabric has a jacquard pattern of poppies. There is lace with an inserted pink silk ribbon at the top, along with a lace decoration in the center front.

On the inside there is a very faint maker’s mark, but we can’t make out most of the lettering. The style of the corset is French, but the part of the lettering that is visible seems to be ‘di’ which would be Italian.

This was one of the first garments we photographed Heather in, who was our very first model. That shoot was on film, using the bathroom of our 1914 bungalow in San Jose as the location.

Later Maria and Sakura Blossom modeled the corset ‘A La Carte’.
