As fashions began slimming down after the turn-of-the-century, combinations (or combos) like this one started becoming popular. Combining the functions of the chemise and drawers into one garment reduced the number of layers that women needed to don.
This combo features cut-work and lace on the front and back. It buttons up the front with mother of pearl buttons, and has an open crotch. The shoulder straps can be worn on or off the shoulders, making it adaptable to be worn with the strapless evening gowns of the period.
