This beautiful turn-of-the-century bodice was graciously donated to us by Toby, a member of the Victorian Preservation Association who thought it would be better off being shared here than sitting in her closet. Constructed of black silk, it shows a bit of the influence of the ’90s in the sleeves but by this time they had returned to more normal proportions. Most of the detail is in the tucks and rouching, but the ivory collar draws the attention upwards.
