Ostrich fans started becoming popular in the 1880s, and based on the size and shape of this fan we would date it to that period. The shape is elliptical, with the longest feather being 13 inches. The sticks are ebony. It is currently missing the ribbon to hold the sticks together, and replacing that has been added to Lori’s honey-do list.
