Today I went looking for the Women’s Federation Grove to scope out a site for a family picture I am taking tomorrow. This grove is just off of The Avenue of the Giants, but it is a bit hard to find if you’re traveling south. The park service has placed the sign for the entrance so that it is totally invisible if you are driving south. However, if you are driving north look for the sign that says California Federation of Women’s Club Grove. That’s the one you want. The grove features a huge four sided stone fireplace that was designed by Julia Morgan, who also designed Hearst Castle. I’ll have pictures of the site tomorrow, but on the drive back I pulled off in Fortuna to snap this sunset picture of the Eel River.
