Exploring the South Jetty
Lori and I spent the day exploring the South Jetty, starting at a wildlife preserve in Loleta, where we walked, or in some areas, sloshed through the wetlands and eventually made our way to the beach. We came across this large piece of driftwood, which I’ve mentally filed it’s location so I can go back and photograph it when the lupines are in bloom. After we walked around the wetland for awhile we drove out to the end of the South Jetty now that it’s open to the public again. There were some pretty large waves coming through the jetty, I can see why it’s such a hazardous shipping channel. We finished up the afternoon shopping in Eureka’s Old Town.
