Champagne at the Fountain
Another shot from the Gingerbread Mansion. Here, Danah and Joel sip their champagne in front of the fire. What a peaceful, relaxing scene it was. At least after we got the fire alarm to stop going off. You see the fireplace in the Fountain Suite is a gas fireplace, and while they’re efficient and safe, they don’t photograph well because the flame doesn’t reach up very high. So when I’ve photographed the rooms before, I’ve put a piece of paper in the fire to brighten it. Using the normal male rational that if one is good three must be better, I put in a couple extra pieces. Just as Jessica was starting to say I was going to set off the smoke detector, it started wailing. Which brought up the housekeeper in a flash. I calmy explained the situation, and that it was under control as there were currently two firemen handling it (Joel works with Eureka Fire Dept.) I opened windows while Joel furriously fanned fresh air in front of the detector. It eventually stopped wailing and we went back to work. However, we decided to not have an augmented flame, so you’ll have to imagine your own roaring fire in the background.
