1908 Wedding Dress
Today I worked with Katy for the third time. She’s fun to work with, and she’s quite the trooper. Our last outing she got to stand in mucky water, and sit on the beach in cold weather and make it look like she was enjoying it all. Today, in order to fit her into a couple of very tiny outfits, she got to find out what serious corseting is about. Her normal waist measurement is a very petite 25″. The two outfits we photographed her in had 22″ waist measurements. It took some sucking in, but the results were worth it, and she even got to liking how it felt after awhile. The first dress we photographed was this 1908 wedding dress that we got as part of the Hydesville collection. It needs a lot of restoration because much of the silk is shattering, but the lace is still beautiful. The lady who we got it from has a picture of the gown being worn by one of her relatives, and we hope someday to get a copy of it.
