1877 Cream Linen Ensemble
This ensemble was one of several that we purchased from Nancy French. It consists of a matching bodice and bustle skirt made of what appears to be a cream linen and wool blend. The lady for whom this dress was made for must have been quite curvy, as it has a large bust and fairly small waist.
The last photo was taken after the fashion show that we presented at the Ingomar Club (The Carson Mansion in Eureka, California). During the fashion show we dressed Sheila in all the layers that were necessary for the period. It took about 15 minutes to get her dressed in this outfit. When all done, she was wearing the following: drawers, chemise, corset, stockings, shoes, corset cover, bustle, two petticoats, skirt, bodice, hat, gloves, parasol and purse.
