Sun, Feb. 1, 2004 - Fire Extinguisher 101
Yesterday our Fire Academy class covered two topics; Fire Extinguishers, and Rescue Tools. I quickly found out that when it comes to fire extinguishers, size does matter. I think all of our vehicle, home and office extinguishers are getting an upgrade.
Mon, Feb. 2, 2004 - Instant Convertible
So that new car you have your eyes on isn't available as a convertible? Well I just happen to know a group of guys who can do a real quick modification for you, at a very reasonable price. Ok, maybe the quality of their work leaves a little to be desired, but with the money you save, you can plan a road trip to somewhere where a convertible can actually be used. You will notice a blue sky in the background, this was the first real nice day we've had in a long time. I should have been out on the bike. Instead I was wearing full turnouts, standing in front of a tray of burning fuel.
Tue, Feb. 3, 2004 - Foot Fetish
Lori recently finished her first book and it is now in the hands of her publisher. Her next book deals with feet and how they relate to the world of fashion. For all of you with foot fetishes, I should state that actually it is a men's patternmaking book. No, it's not a patternmaking book dumbed down so men can understand it, rather it is about making patterns for men, and this photo illustrates how to measure the foot so that you make the pant legs big enough so they can actually be worn.
Fri, Feb. 6, 2004 - Fernbridge
I woke up rather early this morning and it looked promising for the sunrise so I headed on down to Fernbridge to wait for it. Not as spectacular as I had hoped for, but pretty nice.
Sat, Feb. 7, 2004 - The New Backdrop
I've been trying to add to my backdrop collection for the studio, and on Ebay I found this painted scene at a reasonable price. Since it depicts a grand staircase like you would have found on the Titanic, I asked Kate to come over and model so I could try it out. She had some Edwardian outfits in her collection that she wanted pictures of so it worked out perfect. I'll be featuring a few more pictures that we took today later this week, but you'll notice Kate isn't smiling in any of them. It's not that she isn't happy anymore, but she just got braces. She says that's what happens when your boyfriend is the son of a dentist.
Sun, Feb. 8, 2004 - Sharp Dressed Woman
Here Kate is sharply dressed for a walk around the ship. She's going to be selling this outfit, so if you're interested...
Mon, Feb. 9, 2004 - Take a Powder
Kate has moved from the 1910s to the 1930s, yet her boudoir still features that grand staircase. How very odd.
Tue, Feb. 10, 2004 - 1700 Corset
Once again Kate has stepped into the time machine, but this time we see her arrival in the 1700s. This corset is Lori's and she made it for her 1700s riding outfit, which I still need to photograph.
Sun, Feb. 15, 2004 - Breaking Glass
Today was our annual Firemen's Games in Ferndale, the day when all new members get dunked. Two of the probationary members were sure they weren't going to get dunked. They tried resisting and one of them ended up breaking a big plate glass window on Main Street. Fortunately for him, he was wearing his PPE (personal protection equipment) and he wasn't hurt. It did however provide the highlight for the day.
Fri, Feb. 20, 2004 - Just her eye
I just wanted to see how close I could photograph an eye.
